Bruce Walker traces homophobia from its origins through European criminal law to the present, including the impact on indigenous societies and colonialism in Canada. The criminal law has been, and continues to be, the cornerstone of oppression of sexual minorities. This history is vital to understanding the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in 1969, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1985, and the Apology to LGBTQ12S+ Canadians in the House of Commons in 2017.. Presented by Bruce Walker, LGBTQ12S human rights activist and lawyer. Registration opens July 17.
