THE JOURNEY OF RECONCILIATION: LOCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR SETTLER CANADIANS
Since the release of the 2015 Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, many Settler Canadians are engaging in discussions of reconciliation. There is often, however, an angst of not knowing what to do, fear of saying or doing the wrong thing or feeling guilt or shame about the injustices done to Indigenous peoples, so that denial or avoidance may be chosen instead of engagement. Kelly Laurilia, who is Indigenous Saami and Setter, will share what she has learned about reconciliation and how one can find a place within this journey.
