This special edition of Seniors Social Club will feature a special Remembrance Day speaker. Veteran Thomas Jarmyn will share insights from his career and his father's career in the Canadian Armed Forces in a presentation titled “History’s Rhyme: The events of today through the lens of two careers in the Canadian Armed Forces.” Connect with others, reflect, and take part in this meaningful conversation recognizing the service and experiences of Canada’s veterans.

About The Memory Project

The Memory Project is a volunteer speakers bureau that connects veterans and active Canadian Armed Forces members with communities across the country. Through personal stories and firsthand experiences, speakers help preserve Canada’s military heritage and foster a deeper understanding of our shared history.

About the Speaker: Thomas Jarmyn

Thomas Jarmyn joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1979 at the age of 16 and attended the Royal Military College, graduating in 1983. After completing MARS training, he served aboard HMCS Iroquois, Ojibwa, Skeena, and Cormorant. Following advanced navigation training, he taught Navigating Officers and led the Blind Pilotage Trainer at Fleet School Halifax.

Thomas left the Regular Force in 1992 to attend law school, continuing his service in the Reserves at HMCS Scotian until 1997. Now a practicing lawyer, Thomas has worked in both litigation and commercial law and has been involved in significant national events, including the merger of Canada’s major conservative political parties and the Beyond the Borders Agreement with the U.S. He has chaired the Veterans Review and Appeal Board and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Royal Military College Alumni Association.
