About the Event
Join us for a community celebration of sustainability, creativity, and environmental action! Organized by members of WPL's Teen Roots & Shoots team, this special event invites community members of all ages to explore hands-on activities focused on caring for our environment and supporting our local community.
Drop in to enjoy crafts, gardening activities, a community clean-up, and a free thrift-inspired clothing pop-up where you can browse and take home gently used clothing at no cost. It's a chance to learn, connect, and see the impact local youth can make when they come together around issues they care about.
Clothing Donations
Interested in contributing to the clothing pop-up? Donations of clean clothing in good condition (free of stains and tears) can be dropped off at the Eastside Branch only on:
- Saturday, August 29 from 10am to 5pm
- Monday, September 1 from 10am to 8:30pm
- Tuesday, September 2 from 10am to 8:30pm
About the Project
A group of teens from the WPL Teen Events Team recognized the need for environmental literacy opportunities at the library and have planned a community day of action at our Eastside Branch focused on planting pollinator plants and reducing textile waste. To make this day possible, the teens and WPL staff worked together to secure a grant from the Roots and Shoots program from the Jane Goodall Institute, which is focused on inspiring and equipping the next generation of conservation leaders.
Roots & Shoots is a globally recognized youth leadership program run by the Jane Goodall Institute that empowers young people to create positive change in their communities, for animals, and for the environment. This event is an opportunity to celebrate the work of WPL's Teen Roots & Shoots team and the projects they've developed throughout the summer.
