IN PERSON
Shuggie Bain is the unforgettable story of a lonely boy growing up with his alcoholic mother in 1980s post-industrial working class Glasgow. Fiercely proud, Agnes strives to always look good while also spending the lions share of the families’ benefits on alcohol that she hides away. Shuggie is left to care for her as she swings between alcoholic binges and sobriety, all while while struggling to somehow become the normal boy he desperately longs to be. Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart.
