In this two-part book club, we’re discussing the fantastic graphic novel The Legend of Auntie Po by Shing Yin Khor. We’ll explore the themes of this book together using art, group discussions and games.
The Legend of Auntie Po is part historical fiction, part magical realism, and 100% adventure. Thirteen-year-old Mei reimagines the myths of Paul Bunyan as starring a Chinese heroine while she works in a Sierra Nevada logging camp in 1885.

The McCormick Branch is nestled in the heart of the Lakeshore neighbourhood, providing exciting resources to its residents. The second oldest of Waterloo Public Library’s locations, the McCormick Branch is small but mighty and is part of the Albert McCormick Community Centre which features a large outdoor play area, splash pad and skate park.
