KWAG’s Seniors Supporting Seniors group is a senior led, developed, and facilitated group of 55+ plus (or better) volunteers that are passionate about using art as a tool for connection, conversation, and wellness through Community Artmaking Workshops.
Our fall 2023 Community Artmaking Workshop experiments with the traditional medium of decoupage. Decoupage is derived from the French word "decouper". Decouper means "to cut out”. The medium has roots in East Asia with Chinese and Japanese artisans practicing similar techniques as early as the 12th century. We will be experimenting with this medium and decoupaging vessels to create a functional work of art such as a candle holder, pot for a plant, trinket dish, or a container for those front door keys.
Presented in partnership with the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery.
